SRLA Runners Conquer the Marathon

Our SRLA runners woke before dawn and boarded their bus headed for Dodger Stadium before first light on March 8th. Our students and coaches were up for the 26.2 mile “Stadium to the Sea” challenge. All 25 students, and 6 coaches rocked the LA Marathon course. 7^th grader Aaron Gutierrez was our fastest finisher at 3:43:57- That’s an 8 min 33 sec per mile pace! Congratulations to Team SRLA: Aaron Gutierrez, Adrian Lopez, Monique Martinez Barron, Andrea Federico, Jessica Resendiz, Nick Haro, Bivianca Palos, Steve Flores, Anthony Hernandez, Junior Hernandez, Gabby Gutierrez, Ethan Pina, Tonatiuh Valdez, Elias Alvarez, Dalila Salguero, Johann Avalos, Amanda Marcel, Vianka Ramos, Ashley Jeronimo, Jiselle Monge, Karen Marin, Rianna Gonzales, Fernando Cortes, Luke Chavez, Iris Guerrero. Erika Rose, Desiree Chavez, Chris Fontenot, Michelle Sanchez, Christina Brown, and Nora Lopez.

A big Thanks to all our SRLA Families that supported our runners along the course, plus Mr. Jauregui at Mile 11, the Chavez family at Mile 18, Ms. Lam and Mr. Corona at Mile 19, Ms. Brann Zelaya at Mile 4 & 24 and finally Mr. Vasquez at the Finish Line!!
