A Swearing-In Ceremony of Jeff A. Piper as Whittier's new Chief of Police was held on Tuesday, April 12, 2011. Principal Cardenas attended the Whittier City Council-hosted event that welcomed the 8th Chief to the post for the Whittier Police Department. Mrs. Cardenas also met Whittier's Pro Tem Mayor, Cathy Warner, and Council Member Joe Vinatieri. City Council members were invited to attend Los Nietos Middle School's Community Celebration on May 21st from 11:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m. to commemorate the district as the longest standing district in California that spans 150 years.
