Los Nietos Middle School hosted a district-wide professional development day presented by Katherine Casey, consultant, on January 17, 2012. Teachers from kindergarten through 8th grade had the opportunity to reinforce and learn new teaching strategies to meet the needs of English language learners to increase academic achievement. In a district where approximately 50% of students are learning English as a second language, the district prioritizes training for all teachers to close the achievement gap for English Learners.
