MESA Students Attend Preliminary Competition @UC Irvine on March 9, 2013

A group of truly dedicated students and their teacher coaches, Mrs. Michelle Sanchez and Mrs. Jacqueline Ramirez, attended the Mathematics Engineering Science Academy (MESA) Preliminary competition on Saturday, March 9, 2013 at the University of California, Irvine. The group was comprised of 28 MESA scholars who built team projects during their MESA elective classes as part of the Science/Technology/Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) coursework strand. They proudly competed their projects against approximately 200 other middle school students from schools in Orange County. The teams competed in mousetrap cars, glider, speech, craftstick bridges, eye models, egg drop, prosthetic arm, and mathematics concepts.

Congratulations to the students for their hard work, dedication, and for representing Los Nietos Middle School well. We are proud of their collective efforts and look forward to the top winners advancing to compete at the regional level later this spring.
