The very first Earth Day was celebrated in 1970. A man named Gaylord Nelson created Earth Day. Nelson created Earth Day to make people more aware of the importance of keeping our planet healthy and clean.

Earth Day is celebrated worldwide. Over 1 billion people have participated in acts of Earth Day.

Some examples of Earth Day actives are recycle e-waste, go solar, buy local produce, eat less meat, and protect our clean air.
